What are your reading habits?
Today the white house threatened to veto a bill that would prevent a section of the patriot act from allowing law enforcement officials to peruse people's reading habits via internet and library records. As a result, the bill was defeated on a 210-210 vote in which ten republicans that originally supported it "changed their minds".
If ya haven't read the patriot act, here it is. It's pretty long, but just browsing it a bit gave me an idea for the types of things that government law officials are allowed to do under this bill, such as enter one's living quarters while you are gone without having to notify you or provide a search warrant beforehand and monitor anyone's reading habits. Someday I'm going to live in a transparent glass house with a big fat security camera staring at me wherever I go, or a little one... yeah, probably little.
More at talkleft, ciao.
