The Biz

Again, if you ever acquire a caretaking position, expect to witness some strange moments. Expect to have some guy call you and tell you that a kid on the playground was calling his daughter dirty names -- you can further expect this guy to ask you if he can call the cops. Your response may include, but is not limited to Yes, I understand your worry, go ahead and call the cops if you feel it's necessary, or WTF are you asking me for -- am I the guardian of police calling around here? I personally would have picked the former while thinking the latter. Fifteen minutes pass and you find two squads parked in front of your residence -- after seeing the sheriff and two other officials earlier the same day.
What else? Funny you ask. Well, you can expect to vaccum on an almost-daily basis since the hallway carpet is of such a color that even the most tiny piece of sand and/or pocket lint sticks out like a fly on a plain white wall.
While writing this down you might also want to add that one day you will walk into the maintenance room (water heater, cleaning supplies, moldy cement) to find a piece of the water pipe missing with a giant yellow bucket underneath it -- apparently to catch the dripping water. Shortly after you discover this, the whole building will lose hot water and chatty tenants will come knocking on your door all at once to tell you the same thing.
