Word of the Week

This week's word is:

eristic (adj.) of or characterized by debate or argument, --> (of an argument or arguer) aiming at winning rather than reaching the truth. (noun.) a person given to debate or argument.

Used in a sentence: Captain JoeJim could not control his eristic tendencies, but nonetheless succeeded in winning the audience over with various displays of truthiness.

(*yikes. it occurs to me that I've inadvertantly made reference to Mr. Colbert's witty devices not only once (with the use of the word 'truthiness'), but twice (somewhat loosely with 'the word of the week'... this one was not intentional). I have been watching his show every now and then, so I guess it makes sense as to why bits of it have been creeping into my consciousness. Freud? Is that you?)
