Anti-Zen; Irritated Fly
The Zen Fly needs to take a moment to balance his equalibrium-- by doing the same thing that so itches and scratches at his nerves: complaining. Whining. Sitting on the pity pot.
Have pity on me.
I must ask. When you enroll in an upper division class from ANY University, at approximately what pace do you expect to be moving? Do you expect to be catered to as you were in 6th grade? Do you expect to learn things you already know, or do you expect to learn something new?
In short, should the professor challenge your current status of knowledge on the subject (whatever that subject might be)?
Some people tend to think not-- particularly the two individuals that I have confined myself to sitting beside for the duration of the semester. Some commmon complaints include, but are not limited to:
"God. Why is he making us learn these words? This sucks."
"I hate reading these articles. I just don't get them. What, does he think we're the professors or something?"
*And at other times completely unrelated to the class...
"I'm sore... I just want to go home. I'm running on four hours of sleep (i.e., 'feel sorry for me and my hectic life-- where my parents pay for my tuition AND my cell phone bill-- because it truly is hell')."
"*long sigh *depressed look *tired eyes... Geeez, I haven't been doing any homework lately. I really need to catch up. But I'm going shopping with my Aunt later! I can't wait!"
Life is too short, people.
40,000 [Ed. Now estimated at 70,000] lives just ended in a matter of a few days, and you need to learn what an 'antinomy' is (not to mention the fact that you or someone close to you most likely paid a substantial sum of money just so that you could learn what the fuck an antinomy is, or why phi squared is equal to phi plus one)?
Sometimes acquiring important/desirable things in life isn't as easy as walking to the local cornerstore to buy a snickers.
Now that I've channeled these individuals' energy off of myself and into the vast, I feel better.
Good Day.
