Better = Truer?

If so compelled, give me your thoughts on this. If not, don't:

If something is "better", does that also have to mean that "it" (whatever you might assign the value of "better" to, assuming that referring to something as better is essentially a value judgment) is also "truer"? For example, if someone states that so and so has "better" aesthetic judgment, then do we also say that this individual's judgment is closer to the "truth"?

Is truth relative? Or can someone claim to know the "truth" and be right about it...

... absolutely absurd.
