Convention Jibber-Jabber

This post will be rather scatterbrained, so bear with me:

K, so what I did see last night was mainly the likes of Sen. John McCain, widows of 9/11 victims(you know, to really bring the message home), and former NYC mayor, Rudy Guliani. The post below this one pretty much sums it up, though there are a couple of things that struck a nerve in my mind.

Aside from all of the usual rhetoric of determination and resolve that THE dub is said to supposedly adhere to, Mr. McCain made an interesting comment about Michael Moore without directly referring to him, but rather asserting that, "there is a certain filmmaker out there who would have us believe that the Saddam ruled Iraq was a cool breeze", or something along those lines. I am aware that Mr. Moore is guilty of spinning things to suit his opinions, though I strongly disagree that what Mr. McCain said would come remotely close to what Mr. Moore would have us believe. Of course Saddam was a bad man, we all know that. "Saddam gassed his own people" is a common one, but why was our government buddies with the man while this was happening? The only reason I mention this is because Saddam being such a brutal man is/was given as a reason for invading the country, along with WMD's, and imminent danger because of these WMD's, which turned out to not even be there... billions of dollars later and thousands of lives later. The point here is that there was and is an agenda here that does not properly inform the american people. Painting Mr. Moore as someone who thinks that pre-war Iraq was a "cool breeze", in the sun, sipping martinis, havin' a good ol' time is just not true.

I'm not exactly sure of what I thought about the 9/11 widows. In some respects it is not such a bad thing to remember people lost, but on the other hand, it looked like a play, a theatre show, and was done solely for political purposes, as was having the convention in NYC. This is entirely fu!#ed up for obvious reasons. The loss of a loved one used to push a political agenda. Yup.

Gooooliani decided to bite the bullet and play along with the theme of the evening, and then some. It was 11:15 and he was still talking, going on about the apparent flip floppy characteristic of Mr. Kerry's personality... Terra, 9/11, terra, terra, etc.

There is something to note about this campaign, and that is that it is an advertisement; nothing more than at attempt at selling it's product and doing so with whatever means possible. Even if it means using techniques that blind the voter with slogans and various sound bytes. More later.
